What Is a Paint Party?

A paint party, also known as a sip and paint party, is a laid-back get-together in which participants are guided by a host through the steps to create a unique work of art. During a paint party, participants get to express themselves creatively and learn new art skills while socializing, sipping, and snacking.

You can find paint parties in a variety of settings, including bars, restaurants, arcades, and art studios. There are even at-home paint and sip parties!

What Is an Event Owner?

Event Owners are the people who make paint parties possible. They are the amazingly talented stars of the show. The one leading the class, guiding, teaching, and spreading the joy of creativity within their community.

Curious about how it all works? Read on to learn what it takes to be an Event Owner and what we at PaintNite.com provide in return.

Your Responsibilities

As an Event Owner, you're responsible for planning your own events and marketing them locally to ensure a good turnout. This includes corresponding with local venues to set up a time and date, ironing out the logistics, choosing the right paint and sip pictures (or other activities), sourcing the necessary supplies, and setting up and cleaning up before and after your event.

As such, it's not a gig for someone looking for a quick cash windfall with little to no effort. But this may be right for you if you're hard-working, fun-loving, and craving a creative outlet. Paint Nite Event Owners find that the more effort they put into planning and hosting great events, the more successful they are.

What You Get from Us

Being an Event Owner comes with many responsibilities, but we're here to make it a little easier by providing professional support, solutions, and connections to help your side business thrive.

70% of Ticket Sales

As an Event Owner, you get to keep 70% of all event ticket sales. And since you don't have to worry about paying hefty venue fees or other out-of-pocket costs, that money goes straight into your pocket. The other 30% we use to help keep the platform running.

As an Event Owner, you also get to set your own ticket prices. Some art pieces or activities may be more involved or require more materials. You can reflect this in your event's ticket prices to make sure you're always getting adequate compensation for your time and effort.

We partner with bars, restaurants, and other local small businesses across the country to bring Paint Nite to your community. We compile all of our partners into our Venue Marketplace to make it easy to find the perfect venue for your next paint and sip party.

The Venue Marketplace is meant to help Event Owners and local business owners to connect and collaborate. On the marketplace, you can see all the venues in your area that are ready to host your next event.

Opportunities to Make Some Extra Dough

In addition to your regular profits from ticket sales for public events, we are proud to provide ambitious Event Owners with more money-making opportunities.

First, Event Owners can create on-demand content that customers purchase and complete on their own time. Every time someone buys your on-demand event, you get a portion of that money.

Another way to passively rake in some extra money is to participate in our Project Share Program. Through this program, artists like you submit original artwork for hosts to use at their Paint Nite events. Every time someone uses your painting, you make a commission.

Additionally, Event Owners can host private and corporate events with our sister brand, Yaymaker, to make some extra cash. These events tend to be very lucrative because you're guaranteed to have a set number of people, and you can charge more per person.

Professional Mentorship and Support

We are proud to provide professional mentorship and support to make becoming an Event Owner more accessible for artists of all skill levels. When you become an Event Owner, you'll be assigned a Regional Mentor to help you get started and answer any questions you have.

We also offer optional monthly webinars to help you sharpen your skills and grow your events.

Select a Venue

Once you decide to host a paint party, the first thing you should do is select a venue in your area. The easiest way to do this is to explore our Venue Marketplace. Once you find the perfect venue for your event, contact them and discuss their availability and how you can work together to host a paint party.

Gather Supplies

After determining your venue, you'll need to choose a painting to bring to life and gather the necessary supplies. You can browse our wide selection of paintings or create an original canvas painting. When sourcing supplies, make sure you have enough canvas, smocks, brushes, paints, and palettes for the number of people you're expecting.

Send Out Important Details

Try not to spring any last-minute announcements or details on your participants. Send an email with any important information they may need to know in advance. For example, if there are any special parking instructions or if they need to bring anything with them to class.

Hosting the Paint Party

On the day of your paint party, all your hard work and planning come together to create a one-of-a-kind event. Learn some tips from seasoned Event Owners on how to pull off a flawless event.

Setting Up the Paint Party

You don't want to be rushing and running around to get set up on the day of your event. Arrive at least one hour before your event is scheduled to begin to get everything set up and organized. By this point, you should have a final head count and can set up the appropriate number of workstations.

Create a Fun Atmosphere

A laid-back and fun atmosphere is vital for any paint party. Feel free to joke, poke fun at yourself, and be silly. Don't take yourself too seriously and roll with mistakes as they happen rather than focusing on perfection. (Mistakes can be especially fun if your event is also a wine and sip party.)

This helps create a more positive and accepting atmosphere and encourages creativity. After all, a paint party is supposed to be about creative expression and having fun, not about being perfect.

Creating a fun atmosphere also makes people more likely to want to return to participate in more of your events in the future.

Incorporate Music

Music is a great way to lighten the mood, encourage socialization, and get the creative juices flowing. Many hosts choose to create playlists to achieve a specific vibe or mood for their event.

You can even create themed playlists to coincide with your painting. For example, if you're painting a winter landscape, you may play Christmas music.
